Impax Laboratories, Inc. has several generic drugs waiting to beapproved and many branded medications. The company wants to expandits Hayward presence to benefit its research and developmentoperations.
IMPAX has contracted with Webcor Construction Inc. of SanFrancisco to build a pharmaceutical dosage form manufacturingfacility in its recently leased 50,000-square-foot building inHayward. It is anticipated that this facility will be operationalin mid-2002.
Impax recently bought a 50,400-square-foot building at 31153 SanAntonio Street in Hayward to Impax Laboratories Inc. for $4.9million.Impax plans to construct a $15.9 million manufacturingplant near its current Hayward location at 30831 Huntwood Avenue.,which houses about 80 employees. With the new facility, the companyexpects to have 325 employees by 2005.
