Officials Delay Groundbreaking Ceremony

VISTA, CA-The city has postponed a groundbreaking ceremony for the Vista Village redevelopment project that had been scheduled for Monday.

The city wanted to invite people who had been connected with the longtime project to the ceremony. But officials say holiday plans and conflicts compelled them to delay the event.

Project developer Civic Partners claims to have tentative financing but needs letters of intent from 10 prospective tenants to lease space before financing can be finalized. Only one tenant, Krikorian Premiere Theaters, has been announced, but several others have expressed interest.

The ceremony is expected to be held sometime in January, city officials say.
