Children's Hospital Hires Architect

AURORA, CO-Children’s Hospital has chosen Robert Frasca of the Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership to design its new hospital at the Fitzsimons campus here. ZFG, based in Portland, OR, was chosen from seven other prominent firms.

Ground will be broken on the new hospital in 2003, when Children’s will begin its move from Downtown Denver, where it has been since 1908.

ZFG has designed children’s hospitals in Portland and Los Angeles.

“ZGF’s proposal emphasized an ethic for honoring the quality of the environment,” says Denise Brown, vice president for Campus Development at Children’s. “They understand the diverse demands in the complex TCH community and expressed a commitment to the intrinsic values of the people who will occupy the buildings.”

Children’s main hospital currently operates out of eight adjacent buildings on its main campus at 1056 E. 19th Ave.
