The Esperson Buildings are known as the "his and her" officetowers in the CBD. Built with the garish ornamentation of a bygoneera, the 32-story Niels Esperson building was constructed in 1927.The 19-story Mellie Esperson Building was erected in 1941 as anannex. The complex recently underwent a reported $15-millionrenovation.

Urban legend claims the building is haunted by the ghost ofMellie Esperson. The buildings were designed by architect JohnEberson and reflect Italian Renaissance architecture, the onlybuildings of their kind in downtown Houston.
