The City Council has voted to let Trimark Pacific Homes step upconstruction prior to completion of a portion of state Route 125.Mayor Shirley Horton and Councilman Jerry Rindone voted against therequest, which passed by a vote of 3-2.
The developer will be allowed to build more commercial buildingsand homes once Olympic Parkway is complete between Interstate 805and Hunte Parkway next fall. The development will go from 675 to892 dwellings, including multifamily projects.
City officials said a 1999 traffic study of East H Streetbetween Interstate 805 and Southwestern College showed that portionof the east-west roadway could handle additional traffic whenOlympic Parkway was open.
