Barnes & Noble, Asia World Sign Retail Leases

DeKALB, IL-In another sign that the Chicago market’s westward expansion continues unabated, Barnes & Noble, Inc. has committed to a 21,000-sf store under construction in the Oakland Center at Sycamore and Barber Greene roads. The nation’s largest book seller promises access to the company’s selection of 1 million titles as well as providing books of interest to this college community.

“Customers at the new DeKalb Barnes & Noble will have access to millions of books in every imaginable subject, and a comprehensive range of CD, video and DVD titles,” says Barnes & Noble CEO Alan Kahn. “As a community institution, a significant percentage of the store’s books will reflect the local lifestyles and interests of DeKalb customers.”

Closer to Chicago, grocery and specialty department store chain Asia World International will open its first retail outlet in the Iroquois Center in west suburban Naperville next spring, leasing 20,750 sf. Leasing representative Marget Arthur and vice president Amy Bryant of Oakbrook Terrace, IL-based Mid-America Asset Management, Inc. represented Iroquois Center.
