PHOENIX-A closed Harkins theater in the West Valley will be converted into a Tres Amigos de Mexico Furniture location. The Tucson-based retailer has wrapped up negotiations for a five-year lease valued at more than $1 million.

Renovations to convert the closed theater into a store and warehouse will be done in first quarter 2002. The 26,061-sf theater is part of Bell Tower Village, a community shopping center carrying a furniture and home accessory tenant mix. The tenant roster includes a just re-opened Krause’s Custom Crafted Furniture, Metropolitan Mattress and All-Wood Furniture.

Cliff Johnston, associate director for Insignia/ESG’s Phoenix office, handled talks for the Florida-based building owner, Leisure Colony Management Corp. The Insignia team also shored up talks for another 5,500 sf at Bell Tower Village, situated at 4925 W. Bell Rd. in Phoenix. A RE/MAX office will move into 3,000 sf and Jacqueline’s Bridal and Tuxedo, 2,500 sf.
