SAN DIEGO-A locally-based general contractor has brought a little bit of the North Pole to Downtown San Diego.

Johnson & Jennings General Contracting set up an outdoor skating rink at Horton Square located in the interior courtyard of the NBC building at 225 Broadway. The rink, which drew a thriving trade of skaters during the week before Christmas, will remain in place through Jan. 21.

SENTRE Partners, property manager of the 22-story high-rise building, oversaw the $35,000 project. The property management company is donating all proceeds generated from admission and ice skate rentals to Children’s Hospital of San Diego.

Subcontractors included Weather, Bergelectric, Wageman Co. and Resource Floor.
