DENVER-The local office of Chicago-based Sheldon Good & Co. will auction an elementary school owned by the Archdiocese of Denver. The school, originally built in 1925 and expanded in 1960, is being sold to facilitate the consolidation of the Fillmore and Elizabeth campuses of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and School.

The 39,000-sf building on 1.73 acres is being offered with a suggested opening bid of $1.5 million. A certified or cashier’s check for $150,000 is required to bid at the auction. The auction is at 7 p.m. on October 2, at the Denver Marriott Southeast located at I-25 and Hampden.

This classic brick school building, located on a tree-lined residential street in the historic Congress Park neighborhood, is considered a city landmark. The building includes 17 classrooms, 6 offices, conference room, auditorium, cafeteria with commercial kitchen, 20 designated parking spaces and spacious campus grounds with recreation and play areas, as well as room for possible expansion.

“This is truly a unique opportunity to purchase this functioning school building at a fraction of replacement costs”, says Jim MacDonnell, executive managing director of Sheldon Good. “With a suggested opening bid of only $1.5 million, we feel buyers will find tremendous value. He notes that Sheldon Good has auctioned more than $100 million in schools and churches.
