The resort's owners, the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa andChippewa Indians, says the work represents the middle phase of aplanned $10-million, three-phase renovation program throughout theresort.

"We plan to upgrade every area of the resort in time for the25th anniversary of federal recognition of the Grand Traverse Bandof Ottawa and Chippewa Indians as a Native Sovereign Nation in2005," says Andrew Bateman, the resorts EVP and generalmanager.

The $1.5-million phase one began immediately following theacquisition of the resort by the Grand Traverse Band at the end ofMarch with completion this year. Phase one renovations focusedprimarily on infrastructure upgrades in and around The Bear golfcourse and on the heating and cooling systems of the resort.
