The four-story store, the 37th in 17 states for the Plainfield,IN-based Galyan's, is being built at a cost of $6.7 million,according to Steve Saddlemire, project executive for Jeffrey M.Brown Associates. The company's Philadelphia office has beenselected as general contractor for the project. The store, Galyan'ssecond in the New York/New Jersey metro area (the other is inWoodbridge, NJ), has several unusual features, according toSaddlemire.
Chief among them are a raised, barrel-vault roof running thelength of the building and an open ceiling system. The store willalso feature a rock climbing wall for intrepid shoppers to demotheir climbing gear, according to Saddlemire.
Located on Route 9 in this Monmouth County seat, FreeholdRaceway Mall has a total of 215 specialty stores and restaurants.Its existing anchor tenant mix includes Lord & Taylor, Sears,JCPenney, Nordstrom's and Macy's.
