GILBERT, AZ-A firm that manufactures air filters for the semiconductor industry will break ground next month on a 131,000-sf, multi-million-dollar manufacturing and office facility in Gilbert’s El Dorado Tech Center that will serve as the company’s southwestern headquarters.

Cambridge Filter Corp., a subsidiary of Japan-based Kondoh Industries, expects to begin first phase construction with a 48,000-sf building in the 135-acre business park. Completion is scheduled for mid-2004, Paul Sieczkowski, with Colliers International tells Plans for the second phase construction have not yet been announced.

Sieczkowski says the company selected the 8.8-acre site in the Guadalupe Road and Country Club Drive park because it gave the firm close access to their suppliers and frontage along one of the development’s main streets.

The Mesa firm’s decision to base its headquarters in the town was a coup for the community, one of the fastest growing municipalities in the nation, Greg Tilque, director of economic development for Gilbert, tells “This company is internationally renowned for their great product quality and we are delighted to welcome them to Gilbert, ” he says.

Tilque says the relocation will bring about 120 good-paying jobs into the community and bolster the El Dorado Tech Center as the core of Gilbert’s rapidly growing high-tech industry. The center already is home to more than 25 industrial and manufacturing firms. LA contractor Kajima Associates has been assigned the construction duties for the project, which breaks ground on land purchased from NOR-MEL Investments LLC of Phoenix for $2.1 million.

The land sale was handled for the buyer by Sieczkowski along with Mike Parker, and Rob Martensen, also with Colliers International of Phoenix. Mark DiSaboto with Atlantis Commercial of Phoenix negotiated for the seller.
