Work from the DAP is being shifted to a Ford assembly plant inFlat Rock, MI. Most of the 2,000 DAP workers are being shifted tothe Dearborn Truck Assembly, which is also located on the 600-acreRouge site.

"The DAP has served Ford for a long time. We'll eventually beannouncing what will happen with the plant," the spokeswomansays.

The plant had nearly 3.4 million sf and 10 miles of assemblyline, sitting on 47 acres. It was opened in 1918 by company founderHenry Ford and initially built submarine chaser boats for the USNavy during World War I.
