"Governor Romney is committed to increasing the supply ofhousing, and these new resources will help our cities and townsprepare for it," says Douglas I. Foy, secretary of the Office forCommonwealth Development.

The funds are being provided by the quasi-public agencyMassHousing from its Priority Development Fund, a $100 millioneffort to increase housing production that was announced by Romneyin January. The Massachusetts Department of Housing and CommunityDevelopment will administer the planning funds on MassHousing'sbehalf.

"This new funding is a terrific addition to our collection ofplanning resources that we offer to cities and towns," says DHCDdirector Jane Wallis Gumble. "We are ready to start processingapplications and I look forward to working with local officials whowant to move their development plans forward."
