UPTON, MA-A 150-unit housing project being built under Chapter 40B, the state’s affordable housing law, received a $5 million loan commitment for its construction from MassHousing, the state’s affordable housing bank. Noble Vista, a condominium development was approved under the Department of Housing and Community Development’s Local Initiative Program, a Chapter 40B home ownership development, that will include a combination of both age-restricted and non-age restricted units.

Noble Vista will be located on 53 acres on the Northbridge town line. Of the 150 units, 120 are designated for those age 55 and over. As a requirement of the Local Initiative Program, 38 of the units will be sold at below-market prices of $150,000 for the 19 two-bedrooms and $158,000 for the 19 three-bedroom units.

“Upton, as a result of their approval of Noble Vista,” says Keith Munsell, Noble Vista, LLC, the project’s developer, “will be one step closer to surpassing the minimum state standard for affordable housing.”

The project will be constructed in four phases. In addition to the affordable units, there will be 56 two-bedroom units ranging in size from 1,542 to 1,740 sf which are expected to sell between $300,000 and $330,000. There will also be 56 three-bedroom units ranging from 1,800 to 1,930 sf and these are expected to sell between $333,000 and $350,000.
