Before settling on the Innovation site, Mediatech looked aroundat other locations in other states. "We recognized the growingopportunities and resources Prince William County had to offer,"company president Jim DeOlden says. "Additionally we recognized theadvancing presence of biotechnology in the area and the potentialopportunities to work closely with surrounding universities likeGeorge Mason as well as other top-quality biotechnologycompanies."

Both the county and the State of Virginia are participating inthe facilitation of the Mediatech Development, giving $400,000 fromthe County Economic Development Opportunity Fund and $400,000 fromthe Governor's Opportunity Fund to the Industrial DevelopmentAuthority for related infrastructural projects. Ground breaking forthe development is expected to take place this summer, andMediatech will relocate from its Herndon, VA corporate headquarterswhen the new building is up and running in 2006.
