Phillips Edison successfully lobbied city officials to have the33-acre parcel on which La Plata Plaza sits rezoned to accommodatethe new retail project. "La Plata Plaza is a fresh and excitingcommunity shopping center with further growth opportunities thatwill benefit the community, the tenants and Phillips Edison'sinvestors," says John Bessey, Phillips Edison's vice president ofdevelopment. The property will be expanded in a second developmentphase, adding 130,000 sf of retail space.
