PARSIPPANY, NJ-NPS Pharmaceuticals Inc. doubled its sublease space to 54,000 sf at 300 Interpace Parkway within the Morris Corporate Center here. The company, which first took 5,000 sf at another local location and bumped that up to 27,000 sf at 300 Interpace Parkway in 2003, will build out the space as its commercial headquarters. The 18-year-old company’s administrative HQ will remain in Salt Lake City, UT.

Both the initial sublease and the expansion were authored by Peter Rossi of Cushman & Wakefield of NJ. The sublessor is the Omnicom Group and the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

David Clark, the company’s VP for corporate affairs, says the new space is important for the company’s current strategy. “Since 1986, we have been focused exclusively on R&D, but now we’re on the verge of launching our first new products.”

NPS develops and will shortly commercialize drugs for the treatment of metabolic, bone and mineral and central nervous system disorders. With the help of C&W’s Technology Enterprise Group, the company has been able to garner some $7.5 million in Business Employment Incentive Program and customized training grants.
