09/22/04: Although theestimates for the US economy have been revised downward, we'restill ahead of the pack according to the latest forecast from theOrganization for Economic Development. Originally forecasted togrow 4.7% in 2004, the economy is still on course to grow 4.3%.Compared with some of the world's largest economies, we are stillahead of the pack, even though Germany, France and the UK numbersrose. Germany is forecasted to grow 1.7% vs. 1.1%; France 2.7% vs.2.0%; and Britain 3.4% vs. 3.1%. The main reason for the USdownturn, according to OECD economist Jean-Phillipe Cotis, is, "thesub-par pace of job creation recorded to date." So our economy iswell-ahead of our partner/competitor nations. The only thing stillneeded for us to really break out of the gate is a surge in jobcreation. Based on the resilience of this economy, it may not befar off.
