Marriott will begin management of the property under a long-termagreement on Oct. 16. Highland acquired the property as part of afour-hotel portfolio from Wyndham International Inc. in August.

James L. Francis, Highland's president and CEO, says that thecompany has plans to invest more than $6 million in the property.Chad Waetzig, senior vice president of select service lodging forMarriott International, notes that the facility increasesMarriott's collection of historic hotels to 17, and fits well withthe company's strategy of building the brand in "prime" urbanlocations. Highland Hospitality currently owns 17 hotel propertieswith a total of 4,952 rooms in 10 states.
