PORTLAND, OR-Schnitzer Investments has sold a single-story flex building on six acres to the State of Oregon for $5.5 million. The facilities division of the state Department of Administrative Services acquired at Techpointe Commons’ Building B, a 77,514-sf structure located at 3150 NW 229th Ave. The property will be improved as a stand-alone facility for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Laboratory and the office of Oregon Public Health Laboratory. The 2002-2003 Legislature approved the purchase of a property that matched certain requirements.The location requirements were that the building be located in the metropolitan area and within 30 miles or 45 minutes of Portland International Airport, Oregon Health Sciences University and other major metropolitan hospitals. Additional requirements were that the property be a single-story structure, zoned for a laboratory, contain 70,000-100,000 sf of usable space and have the floor to ceiling height capable of meeting the ventilating ducting equipment associated with a modern laboratory.Ted Nicholson, Marty Horeis and Heidi Matter of CBRE’s local office represented the seller. Horeis tells GlobeSt.com that the property acquired was originally part of a 133-acre tract once owned by Fujitsu. Fujitsu built out 33 acres before hiring CBRE to sell the whole package. Panattoni acquired the property, spun off the developed portion, sold 73 acres of the excess land to Intel and developed the remainder with several buildings eventually acquired by Schnitzer.
