NEW YORK CITY-Chicago-based REIT Trizec Properties Inc. has completed 10 new lease transactions totaling approximately 73,000 sf at 1065 Ave. of the Americas here. In the largest transaction, Risk Insurance and Management Society Inc. signed on for 16,579 sf. RIMS was represented by Josh Kuriloff and Alex Cohen of Cushman & Wakefield.

“These transactions illustrate the substantial progress we’ve made in repositioning the property as an attractively-priced option for all sorts of companies who want or need to have high-quality offices located in Midtown Manhattan,” says Douglas Winshall, Trizec’s executive vice president in charge of the company’s east region. The asking price for space in the Midtown property, which is currently 82% leased, is between $31 and $41 per sf. It is the only spot in Trizec’s New York City portfolio that still has a significant amount of space available.

Pace Communications Group Inc., repped by C&W’s Adam Rappaport and Alan Markowitz of RE Com Partners LLC, inked a deal for 11,727 sf. Law firm Weissbarth, Altman, Michaelson & Slavett LLP took 10,781 sf. The firm was represented by Deborah van der Heyden of Newmark & Co. Atlantic Development Group LLC, which signed on for 7,334 sf, was represented by Grant Greenspan and Christine Kevan of Kaufman/Adler Realty LLC. Banta Corp. signed for 7,334 sf and was also represented by Newmark’s Van der Heyden. Represented by Michael Widmondt of GVA Williams, United Airlines inked a deal for 7,538 sf. David Kaufman, Trizec’s vice president of leasing for the New York market, represented the REIT in all of the transactions.

A year ago, Trizec inked five separate deals totaling approximately 55,000 sf at the 665,000-sf site. Built in 1958 and then renovated in 1993, the 34-story 1065 Avenue of the Americas is located between 40th and 41st streets, directly facing Bryant Park. Other tenants include Yahoo!, Jones Apparel Group Inc. and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Staples occupies retail space in the property.
