AAC president and chief executive officer Christof Traidl saysthe plant would be expanded to include a new gear set machining andassembly operation. AAC's new plant in Kings Mountain will doassemblywork.

AAC now has about 100 hourly production employees. The companysays that number should grow to about 500 total by the end of nextyear.Traidl announced the plans for the expanded and new operationsat a joint press conference with the United Auto Workers. AAC andthe UAW signed a new national agreement that will cover all AACplants in thecountry.

"With a national agreement, you spend less time in negotiationsand more time focused on the business at hand," UAW president RonGettelfinger says. Redford Township is in Wayne County.
