The funding includes about $9.2 million for construction of a65-unit residence and about $2.2 million for consolidation andexpansion of aservice station and store, says US Senators CarlLevin and Debbie Stabenow. The House Armed Services Committee hasnot yet approved the projects.

The lodging facility would provide accommodations for militaryfamilies, personnel on temporary duty and guests. Currently, guestsat the Macomb County base stay at facilities that were built in1930 and 1951 or at hotels in the surrounding area.

The new convenience store would incorporate expanded retailspace with a car wash and fuel pumps.
