Fronting the Anacostia Waterfront, the facility will beconstructed of glass, natural stone, steel and concrete, and willcontain 41,000 stadium seats, as well as such amenities as arestaurant and sports bar, picnic area and family plaza.Additionally, the structure will be the first LEED certifiedenvironmentally friendly baseball stadium in the nation.

"This unveiling tells us that we'll have the innovation ofmodern ballpark design for the fans and an anchor building in areclaimed part of town that updates the city's monumentalarchitecture for the 21st century," says Bob Peck, former presidentof the Greater Washington Board of Trade. News of the baseballstadium's development a few years ago began a race among developersto acquire surrounding land in the long neglected--but slated forrevitalization--Anacostia Waterfront area. The ballpark isscheduled for a 2008 delivery.
