WASHINGTON, DC-The retail segment of the 470,000-sf mixed-useWoodies Building will become home to West Elm, which signed on for37,000-sf of space at the landmark property. The store will be thefurniture and home goods chain's largest locale, to date.

Details of the tenant's lease with property owner DouglasDevelopment Corp. have not been disclosed; however, retail space ismarketed in the building starting at $25 per sf. The city sweetenedthe deal for West Elm by providing $4.9 million in tax incrementfinancing for the store's construction.
