Located at 4500 Wisconsin Ave., Cityline began as a Searsdepartment store in the early 1940s and became a Hechinger homestore in the mid-1990s; Roadside took over the property andredeveloped it four years ago. Now the historic building containsretail space, 200 luxury condominium residences and more than 200parking spaces.

The placement of Tenleytown Hardware's name on the tenant rosteralongside Best Buy and Container Store was not random. "There werenumerous conversations with multiple stores until we found just theright mix," says Armond Spikell, partner at Roadside Development.The developers of Cityline worked closely with area residents inputting together the Cityline project and it became clear thatthere was a dire need for a hardware store in the community.Spikell adds that the developers wanted to honor their commitmentto provide services that "met the need and tenure of theneighborhood."
