The French drug maker, which develops vaccines and otherpharmaceuticals and is currently working on a vaccine to combatbird flu, selected the two-story site because it gave the company afull, stand-alone building just blocks from MIT, a broker involvedin the sale who did not want to be identified tells GlobeSt.com.The company is currently located at 26 Lansdowne St. here.

Porter McMillian, senior vice president of US Science &Medical Affairs for sanofi-aventis, says in a statement theexpansion along with the developing technologies from nearbycolleges and universities will help the firm meet its research anddevelopment goals. Dan Loughlin with the Staubach Co. in New Jerseyand Greg Zais with Staubach in Boston brokered the deal for thetenant. The building's owner, Biomed Realty Trust, wasself-represented.
