Buck Hendrix, president of Starbucks Latin America, says thatthe Seattle-based chain is partnering with Maria Luisa and PeterRodenbeck, the principals of Cafes Sereia do Brasil. The two haveintroduced several international retail brands to Brazil, includingMcDonald's and Outback Steakhouse.

The Rodenbecks have been introducing international brands intoBrazil for approximately 30 years. Before joining OutbackSteakhouse Brazil as chief financial officer, Maria Luisa wasinvolved in the hospitality industry with leadership positions atUnited Airlines and American Airlines. Peter is credited withintroducing McDonald's and Outback Steakhouse to the Brazilianmarket.

Alsea S.A. de CV., an operator of global brands in LatinAmerica, is an equity holder in Starbucks Brasil. Alsea is aleading Mexican restaurant company that operates Starbucks, DominosPizza, Burger King, Popeye's Chicken & Seafood Grill & Barin Mexico with more than 800 locations. The company stock is tradedon the Mexican Stock Exchange.
