GREENBURGH, NY-The New York School for the Deaf has placed 40 acres of land here on the market. The site consists of what the school has determined as excess land. The mostly wooded property will be subdivided by the school from the 76.84-acre campus it owns and occupies at 555 Knollwood Rd.

CB Richard Ellis was named exclusive sales agent. The firm’s William Cuddy and Kevin Langtry will oversee the marketing of the site, which is zoned for residential use. Cuddy says that the brokerage firm will be seeking bids on the property sometime in July.

“We have an offering memorandum that we will be actively promoting and circulating,” Cuddy adds. No asking price has been set on the parcel.

The school has completed a master plan of its campus, which is now before the Town of Greenburgh for approval. Back in late 2003, it had put a 41-acre portion of its campus on the market for sale. However, that parcel, which was on the market for $8 million, never sold.

The school was also looking for tenants for former dormitory and classroom buildings on campus. The parcel that is about to go to the market does not include those structures, Cuddy says. The New York School for the Deaf began operations in 1817 and moved to its current site in Westchester County in the 1930s.
