BOSTON-The Boston Housing Authority has approved six projectsthat will add a total of 300 residential units to the city'shousing stock in South Boston, West Roxbury, Dorchester and BayVillage. The largest of the projects--a $47-million mixed usedevelopment which will break ground in December in the Fort PointChannel neighborhood--will create 86 residential units and eightliving and work spaces for artists at 316-322 Summer St. Theproject, which is being developed by W2005BWH II Reality LLC, willalso add 15,500 sf of retail and commercial space.

A month after that project begins, developer 184 West SecondStreet LLC will begin rehabilitating the Signal Building at 154West Second St. and 171 West First St. in South Boston. The effortwill turn the property into 75 condominium units at a cost of $17million.
