CARSON, CA-The Carson Redevelopment Agency has unanimouslyapproved an agreement with a joint venture of Hopkins Real EstateGroup and LNR Property Corp. that is developing the 168-acre CarsonMarketplace retail project. Called the owner's participationagreement, it was the last major approval the developers neededbefore proceeding with the previously announced project.
Hopkins and LNR plan to redevelop the former Cal Compactlandfill, located along the 405 Freeway between Avalon and Del Amoboulevards, into a mixed-use project comprising 1.3 million sf ofretail and theater space, restaurants, 1,200 housing units and a200-room hotel. The project will begin with a $115 million cleanupof the landfill, the construction of roads and otherimprovements.
