SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI-The board of trustees here have approved twomultifamily developments that will bring more than 1,000 new homesto the township, as well as retail, a three-story assisted livingcomplex and a two-story medical office building. The projects are aresult of the township's master plan, approved in 2003.

The development areas include the site of a former gravel mineat Auburn Road, and across the street on the site of a closed waterpark. More than 500 attached condominiums and 25,000 sf of retailwill be built on the site of the gravel mine, says Township PlannerGlynn Wynn. "It will be predominantly multifamily properties," Wynntells GlobeSt.com. The development, which recently received plannedunit development approval, will be built on the 120-acre sitearound the gravel pit lake by Auburn Hixson LLC-Stone Ridge Northof Shelby.
