CHEVY CHASE, MD-Simon Property Group and investment firmFarallon Capital Management are offering $24 per share to acquireshopping-center owner the Mills Corp. The deal tops the $21 pershare, or $7.5 billion that Brookfield Asset Management had offeredlastmonth.

Mills shares closed Friday at $22.15. Farallon already ownsabout 10.9% of Mills' outstanding shares, making it the largestsingle reported shareholder of the company, according to astatement released by the San Francisco-based firm and Simon.
