NEW YORK CITY-The Shops at Atlas Park, which is considered New York City’s first lifestyle retail center, has just signed its first commercial tenants. The five companies have all signed on to take space on the third floor.

Manhattan-based A & Co., a division of Atco Properties and Management Inc., has contracted the long-term commercial leasing agreements with the five local businesses. Bellido Insurance Brokerage, All State Insurance, the law offices of Henry Ramirez, Car Italy and Tours and the law offices of Michael Mauro have all taken space.

“The immediate access to restaurants, retail and convenient parking were key ingredients to why I chose Atlas Park,” says Ricardo Bellido, president of Bellido Insurance Brokerage. The close proximity to desirable amenities and the high profile of the project has brought additional business to many of the newly relocated companies. “I wanted a modern 21st century office space where I wouldn’t have to worry about things like plowing and air conditioning,” says lawyer Michael Mauro. “But have it taken care of by an experienced real estate firm.”

The Offices at Market Place, which is part of the Shops at Atlas Park, is located at 8000 Cooper Ave. in Queens and contains 40,000 sf of office space. After these five leases, an additional 32,000 sf remains vacant. Bellido has taken the largest block of space, leasing 2,300 sf for a 10-year term. The lease rates of the deals were not disclosed.

The Shops at Atlas Park is located on 12 acres and has already signed a number of retailers to the space including Aerosoles, Bombay, Chico’s, Claire’s, Laila Rowe, Stein Mart, Borders Books & Music, New York Sports Club, Johnny Rockets, Starbucks and California Pizza Kitchen.
