Perspective

Everyone recognizes that resumes are central to the hiring process. A well-constructed and presented resume tells you a lot about an individual. Well, the world is rapidly changing. With the explosion of YouTube and similar sites, the era of video resumes is beginning to emerge. Vault.com, one of the leading career-information sites, recently conducted a survey of employers across all industries to assess this emerging trend. Vault found that, while the use of video resumes is still in the embryonic stage among employers, 56% of those surveyed believe they will become a common addition to future job applications. It was also reported that 90% of the respondents would view a video resume if they received it, and the primary reason why employers would value video resumes is the ability to assess candidates’ professional presentation and demeanor. You heard it here first: take this trend seriously. It’s coming, and, who knows, maybe Executive Watch will go video!
