NEW YORK CITY-Madelyn Wils has been hired by the New York City Economic Development Corp. as an executive vice president. She will head the development and planning division of the EDC.

“Madelyn brings to NYCEDC invaluable community development and policy formation experience, and we are very fortunate to have someone of her caliber join our team,” says EDC president Robert Lieber. “Her tremendous work on behalf of the Lower Manhattan community has played a major role in the area’s revitalization, and we look forward to her bringing that track record of success to other communities throughout New York City.”

As the EVP of the development and planning division, Wils will oversee the city’s in-house consultation and project management of land use. Some of the things she will focus on include environmental reviews, traffic, urban renewal, and contaminated site cleanup.

Prior to being hired by the EDC, Wils was president of the Tribeca Film Institute. She held that post since 2004. Before that she was chair of Community Board One in Lower Manhattan. In that position, which she started in 2000, Wils oversaw the master plan for the East River Waterfront as well as the Millenium High School and the Battery City Park library.

“Over the years, I’ve learned firsthand what it takes to get things in this city done, and I’m eager to work with President Lieber and the team at NYCEDC to achieve the goals they and the administration have set,” Wils says.
