ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ-While NBC took 400 jobs back to Manhattan when its MSNBC headquarters in Secaucus was relocated earlier this year, that move will apparently be more than offset with upwards of 1,000 positions coming from Manhattan to the Garden State. According to published reports, the network is preparing to relocate and consolidate its digital media operations at the CNBC headquarters campus here.

According to reports, digital upgrades are already under way at one of the two buildings that make up the 300,000-sf campus. The move would include bringing over employees, now located at NBC headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Center, involved with such operations as iVillage, NBC Weather Plus and other NBC Universal digital media. While declining further comment on the pending move, an NBC spokesman has confirmed that the network will create a fleet of 18 shuttle buses for employees residing in New York who will be making the reverse commute once the relocation is completed.

NBC relocated its MSNBC headquarters back to 30 Rockefeller Center in the first half of this year, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. Building owner Hartz Mountain Industries put the 191,000-sf purpose-built facility at 40 Hartz Way in Secaucus on the market in May.

CNBC has been in its headquarters campus here since 2003, relocating to the newly built complex from its previous HQ site in nearby Fort Lee. And the site has room to grow, if necessary. The 300,000-sf complex is expandable to upwards of 500,000 sf.
