Revolution was unable to be reached for comment by press time.The resort group is a unit of Case's holding company, RevolutionLLC, which he seeded with $500 million in 2005 when he founded thecompany. The goal embellishes the traditional concept ofsustainable development to take advantage of a handful of emergingtrends in global travel, including ecotourism, condo ownership atresort locations and green building standards.

"Revolution Places is an entirely new approach to destinationresort development," Steve Case, chairman and CEO of RevolutionLLC, says in a press release. "We are bringing together the best ofthe best to deliver an ownership and guest experience like no otherresort in the world. Importantly, we will preserve the localenvironment and culture when developing resorts like Cacique, CostaRica to ensure our presence is a positive and welcomecontribution." The project includes 300 condo units.

Located on the northwest coast of Guanacaste, the Caciqueresort, for instance, will be built with environmentally friendlydesigns to reduce energy and water demand. Spatial, wind and solarpatterns also will be taken into account in order to maximizenatural ventilation, shade and daylight. The resort will establisha recycling and solid waste management program as well as createon-site treatment facilities to reuse wastewater. Finally,electrical power will be purchased from renewable sources.
