CHICAGO-Jones Lang LaSalle, based here, has created a National Industrial Practice. The initiative will be headed by Craig Meyer in the newly created position of managing director and national practice leader for industrial services.

The establishment of the new group is in response to increased requests from clients for industrial services and to “integrate the very robust and mature practice groups we have in Asia Pacific, Europe and the UK,” Meyer says. He will be based in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Los Angeles office.

Meyer says the group will be a “single source provider of industrial services,” offering site acquisition, development services, facility management, brokerage and investment sales. “We will cover the full spectrum of industrial services,” he says.

The practice will also be integrating with Jones Lang LaSalle’s global solutions group, global capital markets group and “groups which are engaging in brokerage in the local markets,” Meyer says. Current industrial clients include ProLogis and Whirlpool.

The integration will allow national and international companies to use Jones Lang LaSalle for all services related to industrial properties for all of the company’s locations in the US, Asia Pacific, Europe and the UK. Clients will see “a very consistent and a very sophisticated service platform that is very reliable no matter what marketplace they enter,” he says.

The National Industrial Practice will initially focus on Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, New Jersey and Chicago. One of the first goals is “to create pretty deep teams” in those markets, he says. “We are actively engaged in both hiring externally and promoting internally professionals in those markets,” Meyer says. The five initial focus areas were chosen, in part, because they are some of the largest markets in the US in respect to turnover and are “frankly, where our clients want us to be,” Meyer says. The secondary focus areas will be opportunistic, he adds.
