TYSONS CORNER, VA-Several executives from Scheer Partners haveleft the firm to form their own real estate operation. CalledAppian Realty Advisors, the company was launched by Dan Gonzalez,managing partner; Tom Sandlin, managing partner; Herman Diebler,partner; David Daido, partner; Todd McManus, VP; and ShaunSullivan, assistant VP.

The firm's strategy–at least in the beginning–is to concentrateon the outer ring suburbs of Northern Virginia, Gonzalez tellsGlobeSt.com. “For most of our careers we have found that the growthmarkets are in such counties as Loudoun, Prince William, Staffordand even Spotsylvania. As the core markets become more and morecongested we are seeing employers and employees moving to theseexurbs,” referring to extra-urban commuter towns.

Appian is starting off with a $350 million pipeline, mainly fromformer clients. Right now it is overseeing $150 million of projectsthat are under construction or about to go under construction,Gonzalez says. Another $200 million of its pipeline consists offuture projects. Services the firm offers include landlord andtenant representation, disposition and investment sales,equity/joint venture financing, development consultation andconstruction management.
