TAMPA, FL-Denver-based ProLogis has secured a build-to-suit agreement with Bunzl Distribution for a 117,000-sf distribution center under construction at Sabal Park. Bunzl will be the only tenant in the building, which will be called Building 700.

Bunzl plans to use the facility, which is scheduled for completion in mid-2008, as a distribution center for its paper and plastic packing products serving markets throughout Florida. The company was represented by Dolores Seymour and Edward Miller, of Colliers Arnold Commercial Real Estate Services, and Frazier Bell, of Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.

Scott Alexander , ProLogis first vice president and market officer in South Florida and Tampa, tells GlobeSt.com that site work for the project is expected to begin within a month. “This facility is centrally located with excellent access to Interstate 75 and Interstate 4,” Alexander says.

Sabal Park is a 1,000-acre park located eight miles northeast of Downtown Tampa close to Interstate 75 and Interstate 4. The Bunzl deal is the second build-to-suit transaction ProLogis has secured at Sabal Park. Last year, the company signed an agreement to develop a 215,000-sf distribution center for Corporate Express, a business-to-business supplier of office and computer products.

When the Bunzl and Corporate Express buildings are completed, ProLogis will own, manage or operate 10 facilities in the park totaling more than one million sf. Other ProLogis customers in Sabal Park include Verizon, Houston Wire & Cable Co. and Cintas Corp.

With the Sabal Park transaction, Bunzl will lease more than 675,000 sf in ProLogis facilities across the country.
