HOUSTON-An economy humming along requires different knowledgeand success to one that's in a downturn. In response, this year'sRealShare Houston, slated for Nov. 1, will focus on how to workeffectively in a red-hot local market and how to take advantage ofit.

“We're trying to help participants position themselves foropportunities in a market that's going so well,” says RichardKelley, executive director for the RealShare Conference Series. “Itrequires different operations and strategies to operate in a strongmarket than a market that is on the downside and has challenges.”The half-day conference will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel at5150 Westheimer Rd. The RealShare conference series is produced byReal Estate Media, which also publishes GlobeSt.com and Real EstateForum.

RealShare begins with a keynote interview with Louis Cushman,founder and vice chairman of Cushman & Wakefield Inc., and endswith a session on how the debt and equity capital market debacle isimpacting the local economy. The goal is to provide insight onwhether the active market can continue and potential pitfalls thatcould occur in such a market. Kelley says Cushman, for example, hasa good grasp of how the oil and gas economy will continue impactingreal estate.
