The firm, which currently leases 27,000 sf in the ChryslerBuilding, is taking a five-year sublease for 52,000 sf at theRockefeller Center building. In a little more than two years,having more than doubled the number of attorneys in the city,Venable needed a larger space to accommodate its growing practicein the city, according to a company statement.The firm will nowtake contiguous office space at 1270 Ave. of the Americas toaccommodate its growth. The 31-story building, completed in 1932,is best known for its location adjacent to Radio City MusicHall.
"Obviously we have been very attached to our current location inthe Chrysler Building, one of the city's finest landmarkaddresses," notes Edmund O'Toole, partner-in-charge of Venable'sNew York City office. "However, our steady growth over the past twoyears requires that we find a new home that can accommodateVenable's continued expansion in New York. Our new office right atRockefeller Center and alongside one of the world's greatestentertainment venues assures that our new address will be asmemorable as our present one."
The transaction at 1270 Ave. of the Americas is a sublease fromanother major law firm that vacated the offices for new space atthe just-opened New York Times headquarters on Eighth Avenue.Venable expects to occupy the space by the end of the first quarter2008. The firm was represented by real estate services firm NewmarkKnight Frank.
