IRVINE, CA-Western National Property Management has won a contract to lease and manage College Park Apartment Homes, a 448-unit, 40-acre master-planned Hutton Development Co. gated community. The apartments are a new Hutton project in Upland, CA.

Scott Felix, vice president of the City of Orange-based Hutton Cos., describes the College Park development as “the premier community in the upscale Upland/Claremont area.”The College Park property one of two Hutton Company developments under management by Western National.

The College Park complex features luxury apartments in six different floor plans including from one to three bedrooms. It is located at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Arrow Route at 250 College Park Dr. in Upland.

Community amenities include an upscale clubhouse with a gourmet kitchen, fitness and cardio center, a one- acre park, two resort-style pools, business center, billiards/game room, cyber café and a movie screening room. The property also features walking paths through a private park to a retail center, Montclair regional transportation center and the Claremont Colleges. The College Park development is part of a portfolio of 3.8 million square feet of commercial real estate and 2,400 units of multifamily residential, primarily in Southern California, that the privately owned Hutton Cos. and its affiliates have owned, developed and managed since its inception in Orange County in 1977.

The College Park assignment is the latest contract that Western National has added to its property management roster since Thomas K. Shelton stepped in as president of the property management company last fall. At the time, Shelton said that the Irvine-based firm views the economic downturn as an opportune time to grow its property management operations because the current market has created “an increased focus on property operations and trying to grow revenues while trimming expenses” on the part of apartment owners.

Western National Property Management manages more than 22,000 apartments in more than 140 properties throughout Orange County, the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Northern California and Arizona. It is the residential real estate management arm of Western National Group, a privately owned family of companies with expertise in multifamily development, construction, asset management, property management and ancillary services.
