TOKYO-Start Today Co. Ltd., a local apparelretailer, has signed with Prologis Inc. to leasemore than 1.1. million square feet at a new distribution facilityhere. A statement by the company promises that PrologisPark Narashino 4, which seems to indicate the onebuilding, will have earthquake-resistant technology.

Mike Yamada, president of Prologis Japan, saidthe tenant, which operates its sales through an Internet shoppingportal, already operates a distribution hub at the adjacentPrologis Park Narashino 3. Both parks are about 10 miles from theTokyo CBD. “"Demand for our facilities here has been exceptionallystrong, and we expect healthy market conditions to persist for theforeseeable future given the rapid expansion in e-commerce andcontinued implementation of new business continuity plans,” he saidin statement.

Construction will start in May and is expected to be completedby August 2013. The facility will incorporate seismic isolationtechnology, an earthquake alert system and an emergency powergenerator.
