TEMPE, AZ-Six months after announcing a $10 million investmentin a manufacturing plant, Clear Energy SystemsInc. officially broke ground June 7 on the158,000-square-foot, build-to-suit facility in the 53-acreElliot Business Park. The facility's scheduledcompletion will be February 2013, at which time Clear Energy, whichmanufactures natural gas-powered generators, will commence itslong-term lease with Elliot Business Park owner TempeMarketPlace Commerce Associates LLP.

Once the facility is up and running, it will produce and shipits Genesis 1000, the world's smallest andlightest megawatt power generator, which runs on natural gas. Atfull capacity, the manufacturing facility (which will include12,000 square feet of office space), will employee up to 300people.

Though the industrial building at 7825 S. Harding Dr. shouldtake only months to complete, Kevin Lange,director with Cushman & Wakefield of ArizonaInc. says seeking an ideal site for the locally basedClear Energy took about 14 months. "We looked all over the placefor space," says Lange, who represented Clear Energy in the searchfor a likely site and in negotiating the lease. "We went through alot of manufacturing buildings; we looked in Chandler, Phoenix,Peoria and Gilbert." Lange tells GlobeSt.com that ultimately,building a brand-new facility was in Clear Energy's bestinterests.
