HAMBURG-Developers Estatement gmbh andECE Projektmanagement announced this morning thatthey plan to spend about $100 million to build a new office towerhere for a large accident insurance firm. What they didn’t say,however, is which one.

The tower would have about 281,000 square feet, to be built onthe site of a former bus station, on the north edge of theBarmbek train station area. The building willinclude more than 15,000 square feet for retail and restaurants,and an underground parking garage.

The developers won’t say yet which firm has agreed to lease atthe building. The city has other insurance and banking firms, butis more known as a media hub, including the headquarters ofDer Spiegel and the European office ofWarner Bros. Music. In an ECE statement, thecompany said the insurance firm has a lease contract that expireselsewhere in 2015 and “prefers this location among others due tothe excellent traffic connection accessibility and the integratedlocation.”
