TORONTO-Homewood Suites by Hilton, based inMcLean, VA, is expanding rapidly in Canada, and has recentlyannounced three new properties in the country. The firm, with 300hotels, is still seeing new openings in the United States, but hasincreased its focus on the Great White North.

Homewood recently signed agreements for three new extended-staysuite hotels in three Canadian cities. Homewood will be the brandfor a 112-room property being developed by MLS ManagementLtd. by fourth quarter 2013, a 104-room hotel being builtby Tasico Hospitality Group in Ajax by Q4 2014 anda 97-room property being developed by Kingsbury HospitalityGroup Inc. in St. Jacobs by fourth quarter 2014.

The company already has 10 hotels in Canada, including threeproperties signed in early 2012. Bill Duncan,global head of brand management, tells GlobeSt.com that there’sanother dozen properties in the works for Canada. “For whateverreason, Canada has turned into an amazing country for us, we’regetting incredibly strong performance from them with metrics muchhigher than US hotels,” he says. “It’s an amazing opportunity forus to grow the brand.”
