GLASGOW-ScottishPower, one of United Kingdom’s largest powersuppliers, has hired a joint venture of Helical Bar and DawnDevelopments to build a new 14-story headquarters here in GlasgowCity Centre. The 220,000-square-foot office building, going up atthe corner of St. Vincent and India streets, is reported to costmore than $63 million.

The power firm said in a statement this morning that it willsign a long-term lease with a new owner once the building iscompleted in late 2015. The company also hired Helical to preparefor lease its current office locations in Cathcart, Yoker andFalkirk.

The building is going up where the failed Elhpinstone Tower wassupposed to be built, on the site of the former StrathclydeRegional Council headquarters. The 39-story tower, to be thetallest building in Scotland, had been financed by Lehman Bros.
